Château Saint-Martin & Spa
True luxury French style
Located in Vence in the heart of Chagall and Matisse country, the Chateau Saint-Martin & Spa is a hotel which blends in perfectly with the surrounding landscape, making it an ideal way for visitors to feel like privileged Cote d’Azur landowners during their stay here.. Built on the ruins of a 12th century Templier fortress of which only the huge drawbridge door and and few remains of the wall still exist, it became a 24 room hotel in 1958. Very quickly however, the Chateau Saint-Martin & Spa became one of the “must” addresses on the French Riviera thanks to its refined decor, irreproachable service and the magnificent panoramic views from its 12 hectare park designed by the renowned creator of gardens, Jean Mus. A swimming pool, secluded lanes and stone terraces are scattered throughout the centuries old olive trees overlooking the sea. What could be more Mediterranean than an olive grove? Total immersion in Provencal life is thus complete especially after returning from a stroll along the sea or to the back country and being able to taste the olive oil produced on the site.
Once inside the hotel, the Aubusson and Gobelins tapestries in the bar, the superb hunting table and the Louis XVth furniture in the reception salon immediately set the tone. We are undoubtedly in a large manor in which every detail springs from the creative imagination of its owner, Madame Oetker. The chateau spirit is present in every one of the hotel’s rooms with period furniture and rare Persian and Turkish carpets. The balconies and terraces of the rooms and suites all face the blue waters of the Mediterranean. For more intimacy and space, the Chateau Saint-Martin has six villas nestled in the Baou Mountain on a private and secured property. These recently built villas, preferred by celebrities, possess the same decor and comforts of the rooms in the Chateau. Some of them have fully equipped kitchens and three bedrooms. Total isolation is guaranteed for the world’s rich and famous in search of an intimate vacation. On the palace side, two star chef Yannick Franque’s will thrill even the most demanding tastes not only for the cuisine but also for the dishes on which it is served. And since so many visitors come to the Cote d’Azur for rest and relaxation, a visit to the Prairie and Banford Spa is bound to be a highlight of one’s stay here, be it for chromotherapy, special massages for children or any other treatment worthy of the service for which the Oetker collection of establishments is famous. Before leaving the Chateau Saint Martin & Spa, prepare yourself for returning to the stress of urban life and business meetings with a yoga class in the garden while filling your lungs with the air of the Mediterranean. Time is precious and knowing how to use it is essential!
