One & Only, The Palm – Dubaï
A hotel that truly deserves its name
Dubaï is the city of superlatives, architectural excess and bigger than life projects. Even if you’ve prepared yourself for the monumental character of Dubaï, it’s impossible not to be overwhelmed by this urban oasis in the heart of the United Arab Emirates desert. Dubaï is an endless work in progress in which taste plays a major role. Tastes however vary, and not everyone will be thrilled by the extravagance of the buildings or the atmosphere in which local inhabitants never mingle with expatriates. One thing however, is certain: there’s a lot to discover in this high tech city where the traditional and the futuristic come together without any loss of identity. One of the most beautiful discoveries one can make in Dubaï is located in a key spot, the famous Palm Jumeirah, a man made archipelago in the shape of a palm leaf reaching out into the sea. At the western end of this external crown, we find the One & Only, The Palm. Facing the skyline but separated by a turquoise sea, the One & Only is a truly unique hotel for the region, as it’s a boutique hotel surrounded by lush vegetation.
There are no skyscrapers here (the buildings are barely three stories high), just a private beach and total peace and quiet, so near and yet so far from the tumultuous city, making it the ideal place for a relaxing vacation. The hotel has several comfortable and luxurious suites of varying size, beginning with 65 square meters, and private villas with their own access to the hotel’s beach. The One & Only’s three restaurants include a member of the Stay chain in which three starred chef Yannick Alléno proposes a varied range of excellent dishes. The unique nature of the One & Only Palm attracts primarily families, newlyweds and visitors who want to discover the charms of Dubaï in total serenity. Built as a luxurious retreat, the hotel is self-sufficient and an experience in its own right, a quality that makes it one of the city’s most luxurious hotels. Being in Dubaï but having the impression that the city simply serves as a décor is truly the height of luxury!
