An Oriental Crossroads
It takes just 30 minutes to escape the hustle and bustle of the center of Marrakech and reach the last hotel sanctuary in the Palmeraie, the Palais Namaskar. After going through the heavy wooden door, the columns covered with Floridian vines in pastel colors immediately set the tone of a totally feng shui universe. And the staff member leading you along the gigantic fountains will not hesitate to tell you that Philippe Soulier, the owner of the hotel, is a feng shui master, and that he designed the hotel according to its principles of environmental harmony that go back thousands of years. The five hectare property adheres strictly to these rules. Architect Imad Rhamouni, a student of Oscar Niemeyer and former associate of Philippe Starck, understood and interpreted the wishes of the owner in furnishing the Residence, the Villas and the Palaces, the three kinds of accommodations at the Namaskar. Among the most successful creations are the Le Corbusier type Villas with fountains at different temperatures set one against the other, the decorative identity of the Minotti furniture in all the
accommodations, the Murano chandeliers and mirrors designed especially for the restaurant and the bar, the choice of dark stone for the private swimming pools and suites of the Residence, the numerous outdoor sofas spread throughout the garden and more importantly, the harmonious blend of Asian and North African influences…not to mention the menu of the hotel’s only restaurant, created by Antoine Perray, a young chef from Normandy who wonderfully combines fresh local products with an unpretentious contemporary cuisine. The pleasures of the palace would not be complete without the legendary dessert created by pastry chef, Nicolas Warot from northern France, consisting of a chocolate cigar decorated with gold leaf. Before or after dinner, guests can take the alun stone staircase leading directly to the hotel’s golden domes and enjoy the view from the elegant terrace with its incomparable view of the Atlas Mountains, as a disc jockey plays a selection of mood music. Whatever your pace of life, the Palais Namaskar and its highly capable staff, directed by Fredéric Picard,is ready to fulfil your every wish at any time of day. As a final sign of quality, the Palais Namaskar has recently joined the Oetker collection of hotels which includes the Bristol in Paris, the Eden Roc in Antibes, the Brenners Park in Baden-Baden, the Château Saint-Martin in Vence and the Isle de France in Saint Barthélemy.
