The Courchevel winter resort was officially born in May, 1946 as a socially conscious vacation spot open to all layers of the population with the goal of encouraging tourism in the Savoie region by making the mountains available to everyone. This idea continued on until the late 1990s when the construction of more luxurious hotels, notably the Courchevel 1850 village became a popular vacation spot for Russian oligarchs. Although the three other villages that make up the resort remain family oriented, the image of Courchevel as a luxury site is now anchored in people’s minds. More than just another ski resort, Courchevel is legendary. Over the years, it has become the incarnation of the perfect blend of snow and luxury. Courchevel is the international symbol of a top of the scale resort. As a destination for the rich and famous, Courchevel’s success continues to increase with, as proof, the regular addition of new five star hotels. Twenty of the resort’s fifty hotels are in the five star category. Courchevel’s 119 ski slopes comprising 493 kilometers make it the world’s largest skiable area. In addition, it has 174 ski lifts for its 32,000 tourists in high season, and 800 monitors.
A talent for welcoming guests and offering them an exceptional vacation could be the motto of all of the world’s five star hotels. The luxurious Saint Roch located in Courchevel 1850, has made it its philosophy and its ambition to the point of transforming it into a veritable art. As the latest creation of the renowned couple, Tournier-Bonnemaison, the Saint Roch is more than a simple hotel; it’s a multi-sensual experience. The aesthetic work combines modern influences with traditional elements recalling the mountain spirit so important to the resort’s regular visitors. Here, conviviality is in perfect harmony with luxury and innovation. The visible wooden beams and the use of traditional materials bring authentic warmth to this site filled with cleverly integrated high tech material like speakers hidden in sophisticated lighting or radiators which recall ropes around a pole. The design atmosphere is modern, with touches of humor and in perfect sync with the chalet spirit. The Saint Roch has 19 suites ranging in size from 56 to 93 square meters and five 36 to 44 square meter rooms. Two extraordinary accommodations are also available: the 400 square meter Love apartment and the 500 square meter Roch chalet. The cozy feel of the hotel is enhanced here with a nuanced expression of gentle colors in a restful, authentic and modern atmosphere designed to be as natural and as elegant as possible. The hotel’s spa offers high level SkinCeutical treatments in addition to its large interestingly lit indoor swimming pool.
All five senses are celebrated at the Saint Roch thanks to its visual beauty, its music heard all day long, its well selected refined cuisine, its surprising and comforting use of materials and the ambiance of carefully created aromas throughout the hotel!!
