Eden Rock - Saint Barths

There aren’t enough superlatives to describe Saint Barthelemy, a tiny piece of land belonging to the Leeward Islands. The owners, David and Jane Matthews have contributed greatly to the Eden Rock’s success. As a guarantee of excellence, the hotel belongs to the prestigious Relais & Châteaux group. It even has its own art gallery. Each suite is decorated differently, and the Villa Rock has its own recording studio. Some of the suites are located on the rock and others along the superb beach in a setting of lush vegetation. The Garden Cottage is in the latter category. The unique décor of the bungalows are in a colonial style with a four-poster bed in the middle of the room. The Contemporary Beach rooms are alongside the sea. The Classic Rock suites follow the contours imposed by rock. The magnificent view can be enjoyed from the large terraces.

The interior is decorated with precious fabrics and antique furniture that are in direct contrast to the works of contemporary art. The hotel possesses two exceptional places for guests to take their meals both of which are known throughout the island. The Sand Bar is on the beach, facing the ocean and offers fish, shellfish, grilled meat and salads. On top of the rock, guests can dine at the On The Rocks restaurant with French cuisine proposed by Chef Jean-Claude Dufour, with a predominance of fish, as one might expect. To complete this dream holiday, Eden Rock Bien-Etre - Well-being - offers spa treatments “at home”. An expert comes to the suites or the rooms to perform massages or beauty treatments.

The island was named “Saint Barthelemy” by its illustrious and first colonizer, Christopher Columbus. The explorer discovered the island in 1493 and named it after his younger brother, Bartolomeo.
